Key Information

Safeguarding

At Barrs Court Primary School, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children, their families and carers, has a role to play.

In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals should make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.  Everyone who comes into contact with children has a role to play in identifying concerns, sharing information and taking prompt action.

More information on how we keep the children safe by following the links.

If you have any concerns about a child's welfare speak to a member of the Safeguarding Team.

Our DSLs and DDSLs are:

  • Mr D Webster: Headteacher and DSL
  • Miss K Warlow: DDSL
  • Mrs K Cook: Family Link Worker

All our staff receive regular Safeguarding Training and updates throughout the year. These training sessions are focused around specific areas identified in ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ such as Child-on-Child abuse and Prevent Duty Training.

If you are worried about a child, young person or adult, who you think is being abused or neglected – REPORT IT

Safeguarding the School Site

The Governors request that, for safety reasons, no dogs are brought onto the school site. Wheeled bikes and scooters should be secured at the bike/scooter racks and not ridden around the playground at any time. Our children should not use play equipment on their way to or home from school.

As we are a ‘smoke free zone’, in line with county policy the Governors request that parents/carers refrain from smoking on school grounds when bringing and collecting children or during or after fund-raising events. This includes e-cigarettes.

Safeguarding Newsletters

Three times a year we send out a safeguarding newsletter to keep you up to date on the latest safeguarding information. They provide practical advice and links to other organisations.
