Eco Council

Autumn Term 2023

The Eco team is made up of children from Red Area, Blue Area and Green Area. The team are a group of extremely hard working children, who are eager to continually help our school to become even more environmentally friendly. We were awarded ‘Green Flag’ status for the seventh time in 2023 and we are proud of our achievements.

Why did you want to be in the Eco Team?

  • “I think I will be helpful because I show respect and care for our school.” Blake
  • “I like litter picking and making sure our school is nice and tidy!” Ezra
  • “It’s really important to look after our planet and be eco-friendly. I love caring for animals too and that’s an important part of being in the team.” Olivia

Our ECO team:

  • Red area – Emie, Blake and Henry
  • Blue area – Albie, Ezra and Leo
  • Green area – Jonty, Olivia, Louis, Conall, Archie and Darcie

What have the Eco team been working on in the Autumn Term?

We were delighted to begin the year by receiving our Green Flag award for 2022-2023! In September, children in each class who wanted to take on the role of an Eco Representative nominated themselves. Following this, a whole class vote took place. We were very excited to receive our badges, which we wear with pride, so all members of the school community know who we are an Eco Team member. We have carried out litter picking on the school grounds. Recently, we noticed a build-up of litter near our school fence. However, we have decided that we want to litter pick fortnightly in order to limit the amount of litter in this area.

If you have any suggestions for how we could be more Eco friendly, please let us know! We love to hear new ideas.

What has the ECO Team got planned next?

  • Develop our Action Plan for the year
  • Continue to litter pick on the school grounds regularly
  • Planting in the Spring to welcome more wildlife
  • Creating posters to encourage the rest of school to be ECO friendly too!
  • Planting in the courtyard
