French

butterfly-smAt Barrs Court we teach French to children as part of the normal school curriculum. We believe that the earlier a child is exposed to a foreign language, the more quickly that language is acquired. Furthermore, learning a foreign language is an excellent way to develop intercultural understanding.  The children at Barrs Court really enjoy learning French. Here are some of the things we do.

  • We play French games.
  • We write to French children.
  • frenchWe invite native French speakers into the classroom.
  • Each year we have a French assistant who teaches small groups throughout the school.
  • We use puppets for role play.
  • We listen to French songs and read French books.
  • We take part in European Languages Day.
