History encourages pupils’ curiosity about the past. Historical knowledge, skills and understanding is taught through:

  • A chronological understanding of placing events, people and changes in the correct period of time.
  • Recognising that the past is represented and interpreted in different ways and why that is.
  • Developing the role of historical enquiry using a range of sources of information e.g. artefacts, documents etc.

In History pupils find evidence, assess it and reach conclusions; a skill not just necessary for history, but for life.
