League Round 1 Match Report

On Monday October 2017 Barrs Court played the League Round 1 Fixtures. We played 5 matches. In our first match we played very well and passed the ball before we got tagged which helped us to get tries, the match ended in a 6-0 win for Barrs Court against St Stephens. We were happy with the win and now played the 2nd match with confidence. In our 2nd match we played against Marshfield and won 8-3. After winning both of our matches we played Cadbury Heath, we started well but then at the end of the match we were a bit sloppy with our passing but it ended in a win for Barrs Court 4-1. In our next match we knew we had to pull it together and pass better because we were playing the Park and they are tough team. We won the match 4-0. For our 5th and last match we played Beacon Rise who are also a tough team but we just about won and scored our winning try at the last moment. The ending was 4-3 to Barrs Court. At the end of the tournament we came 1st overall.

Match report on Cleve rugby tournament

On Friday 10th November 2017, Barrs Court were invited to Cleve rugby to play a tournament. The team for the tournament were: Fraser (captain), Neela (vice), Willem, Charlie, Chloe, Macey, Sam, Josh and Reuben.

These were the schools we had in our group: Cadbury Heath, Tnyings, Staple Hill and Blackhorse. In our first game, we started slow, however we pulled it back and won 7-2 (against Cadbury Heath). After that match, Barrs Court easily won 6-3 against Tynings. In the next match, we played Staple Hill and passed it well. Furthermore, we didn’t let them score! At the final whistle, we won 7-0.We now thought we were through, and we accidently switched off and lost 3-2 in our last match against Blackhorse. On try difference, we came 1st and we were through to the quarter finals.

We played the Park and won 6-3. We played great rugby and as a result we tore through their defence. In the semi-finals, we had to play Beacon Rise! Due to the fact we passed and played amazing rugby, and easily beat Beacon Rise 6-2. That meant we were through to the finals!

In the final, there were two great teams that played brilliantly. Barrs Court were up against Bromley Heath. Both teams didn’t make any mistakes but as Bromley Heath won the toss, they won by one try. At the end, we got a silver medal finishing as runners up. The whole tournament was a great team effort.

Barrs Court Stripes – October 2016

Barrs Court hit the headlines by winning two of their matches, losing one and drawing one!
Rowan did an amazing role as sweeper and vice- captain! Captain Eva did an impeccable job; encouraging her players and winning rock ,paper, scissors against captains from opposing teams! This was our team; Eva, Rowan, Fraser, Charlie, Jamie, Charlie, Liam, Sam, Chloe and Neela.
An incredible start to the year for Barrs Court Stripes due to the fact that they were victorious against Staple Hill by winning 6-3.
In the next match (against Beacon Rise) we were unfortunately   beaten 7-6, so close .
By our third match we were in the zone! No doubt this was our best match therefore we won 6-1!
Pressure was on, it was our final match! We scored a try but then they scored a try. Even though we tried our best, we ended up with a dreaded draw  3-3 !
