About the PTFA:

We are the Barrs Court Primary PTFA.  PTFA stands for Parent, Teacher and Friends Association and we formed in September 2021. We are a registered charity (registration number 1197894).

The PTFA incorporates all parents/carers and teachers as its members and is run by a small, but dedicated team of volunteers:

  • Gemma Goodman: Chair

My name is Gemma and I am the Chair of the PTFA.  I have one daughter at the school and another joining in September 24 (fingers crossed she gets a place).  I joined the PTFA as it was/is a fantastic way to support my daughter’s school and be actively involved in her education.  It also provides a great opportunity to connect with other parents and form a supportive community.

PTFA Team:

  • Rebecca Hill: Vice Chair
  • Claire Milner: Co-Treasurer
  • Sarah McDonald: Co-Treasurer
  • Sam Deere: Secretary
  • Members: Mariola Poziemska, Amber Rouse, Emily Stephens, Lisa Collins, Ben Miles, Natalie Hallam, Laura Smart, Deb Crowley and Hannah Carroll

The primary aim of the PTFA is to fundraise for projects, resources and equipment; provide social events to unite and bring the school’s community together; and provide an opportunity for parents to make a difference to their children’s experience at the school.

We are always looking for new members and joining the PTFA provides a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with other parents, teachers, and students to create a positive and enriching environment for all. As a member of the PTFA, you might participate in organising events, fundraisers, or various school activities. This not only benefits the school community but also allows you to meet other parents who share similar goals and interests. Building connections with other families can be a valuable source of support and friendship.

If you have any suggestions, ideas, or if there's anything specific you'd like to see happening within the PTFA, please feel free to reach out. Your input is valuable, and together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of our children and strengthen our sense of community.

If you are interested in any of the above, please feel free to contact the PTFA: PTFA@barrscourtps.org.uk

Our PTFA meetings are open to everyone and are informal and relaxed.  If your family/work commitments prevent you from attending PTFA meetings, there are still plenty of opportunities to be involved.  Please do not hesitate to speak with any of the team or alternatively you can email us at the above email address.

AGM:

This is being held on Wednesday 16th October 24 at 17:00, followed by a general PTFA Meeting in the School Hall.

The PTFA plays a vital part in the school community and all parents, as members of the PTFA, are invited to support the AGM. This is your chance to hear and see how the funds you have helped to raise have been used for the benefit of the children/students at our school.

The AGM is also an opportunity for you to elect the PTFA Committee, who represent the association throughout the forthcoming year. Nominations should be sent in advance of the AGM for anyone wishing to stand as an Officer or Ordinary Committee Member, for the first time. Existing committee members wishing to stand for re-election do not have to be nominated again but should inform the PTFA of their intention to stay in their role.
